Hi,
What happens with insurances on the boat? i.e. damaged caused in transit, ships sinking etc.. Is this covered in the FOB cost?
Cheers.

FOB stands for Free On Board and is the total cost of getting the car ready for shipping excluding the actual shipping charge. FOB includes cost of car, de-registration any taxes etc.
when you purchase a car you have 2 options:
C&F - Cost & Freight. So basically FOB + cost of shipping
or
CIF - Cost, Insurance & Freight. So everything included in C&F plus insurance.
I have just ordered a Honda Civic SiR and cost of shipping insurance is approx £70. However, i think you are only covered for total loss. Any damage caused in transit would be very difficult to prove where the damage occurred. Especially if you havent seen the actual car yourself in Japan. |
