Give full details of all costs from the time I buy a car from stock purchase and / or from auction purchase. Secondly the cost of shipping + freight from the auction site to Karachi port (Pakistan). I need all costs for a big car like Toyota Surf and small cars like Mini Pajero Finally in how many days I have to send the full payment of the car purchased.

There is often confusion with regards to the total cost calculation of importing a vehicle into the UK. We shall now take you through step by step the costs involved in importing a vehicle from Japan. An example has been used to help make things clearer. We shall start calculation from the stage where you have successfully bid on a vehicle and the auction service fee of 400 GBP has been paid to Autoadvan.

1) Vehicle winning bid price.

E.g. 200,000 Yen for a 1996 Nissan Skyline GTS-TM

2) FOB price. This is set a 110,000 Yen. This is the Free On Board Charges for shipment by ?Ro ? Ro? vessel. This includes the following

* Purchasing fee at auction
* Inland transport charge to bring cars to the nearest shipping port
* Storage fee in a 24 hours secured yard until shipment (up to 30 days)
* Customs clearance charge
* Charge to get cars on board vessel
* Japanese documentation charge


E.g. 200,000 Yen ? Vehicle winning bid price
+110,000 Yen ? FOB Price
310,000 Yen ? Total

3) Ocean Freight. For a medium sized vehicle this would cost around 100,000 Yen to Southampton in the U.K.

For a small vehicle such as an Mx-5, the cost of shipment to the UK is around 70,000 Yen.
For a very large vehicle, cost of shipment to UK is around 110,000 Yen
Marine Insurance is around 5000 Yen

E.g. 200,000 Yen ? Vehicle winning bid price
+110,000 Yen ? FOB Price
+100,000 Yen ? Ocean Freight to the UK
+ 5,000 Yen ? Marine Insurance (optional)
415,000 Yen ? Total

4) Import tax in UK is 10% of total so far.

415,000 Yen + 10% = 456,500 Yen

5) VAT is 17.5% of total so far.

456,500 Yen + 17.5% = 536,388 Yen

6) Shipping agent fee (if used) 170 GBP
