looking through the new vehicle excise duty rates i see it states cars REGISTERED after march 2001 are subjet to grams per km.. so if i were to buy a car declared manufactured in 1994 and first registered in 2006 would it be subject to the old car tax rules or the new ones?? it seems a bit of a grey area.. i presume its actually based on year of manufacture?? i hope i'm right!! anyone know otherwise

It's based on year of manufacture and not date of registration.
