Whats the cheapest way to get an import into N.Ireland

1. Ship into UK, transport back to N.Ireland???

2. Ship to dublin and pay VRT on car then drive north??

Anybody any experiance? i thought as the car was going north you may not have to pay irish VRT on the car as it wont be used in the south???

Ship the car to ireland and get a trailer and tow it down or if you know any one that owns a garage ask them for there trade plates. If you get trade plates you put them on the window and drive it to the north the trade plates will cover you to drive. Then register it in the north.

The other option is to use a transporter company to delivery.

As a guide it costs £140 from Southampton to the Midlands. It should not cost much more in Ireland.

I think he may mean tax wise??

I am led to belive that if you ship into Dublin then the tax is less than for you and I as Uk residents. Dont quote me on this but my mate was looking to do this and then ferry accross to England/Wales.

From memory he was looking to register the car in Eire and pay tax there which is much less. Then ship it over and just re-register. You would have to find the exact details from the Eire people tho??

I reckon it would be easier for yourself to just up the road??
