After a long time searching and waiting, I finally lost patience with the auction system and asked Tony and Terence to look for a car with the specifications that I was after at the dealers they have contact with in Japan. After a few days Terence emailed me with details of a couple of cars that fit my requirements and one of them had nearly everything I had been looking for Very Happy, so I asked for more details on it and and was sent more pictures and information. We agreed a deal and after I transferred the money into their account I received confirmation from the shipping agents that the car was on a ship and heading for england Cool.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Terence and especially Tony for the amount of effort they put into making sure that everything was ok with this purchase. The car has a couple of small, and I mean small paint chips and a small, and again I mean small dent, the pictures that I have had show me all aspects of the car and I am happy with the condition and the spec. It should arrive around the end of August and I can hardly wait but of course I have no choice, but I have been using the time to do as much research as I can before it gets here so I will be ready to go when it arrives.

I was really upset with the FTO I bought for my wife initially, as I went by the information on the auction sheet but now its here and nearly ready we are both quite pleased although it has obviously taken longer that we originally anticipated it will be ready soon. To be honest I think that the way I bought my car was much better for me as I could get more information on it without the time pressure that the auctions bring with them.

And another Skyline, Masong! You two will be able to compare notes soon (and timing slips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink )

Well done MidNite - quite interesting that you have a comparison with both methods of purchase now as well, that must make you a bit of an authority on the whole importing malarky!! You'll have to do a 'his and hers' photo session for the garage!

Masong, I will post pics of mine after it has arrived and I have had a chance to clean it up. I would only want to show it at its best but from what I have seen so far I do like the car.

Glanma, that is a deffo, when we have both cars here I will post up pics of both of us with our cars. Its gonna be a while yet though as mine does not arrive until the end of August then I will have to get the MOT done and a few other things but it willl come to pass.

How about a cheeky auction sheet to keep us guessing?!
Good to hear, I am currently waiting for new injectors so August sounds about right for a friendly spin!

I'll keep my eyes peeled...

I would let you see the auction sheet but I didnt buy it from the auctions but got it direct from a dealer in Japan with the help of Terence and Tony. It has a few mods though Very Happy , about what I wanted as I didnt want a monster car that would not be a nice drive on normal roads even though it is going to be my evening and weekend car.

New Injectors Rolling Eyes , what are you having done, what mods do you have and how many BHP is it running.

I do have a question for you though, what fuel do you use for the car and did you have it remapped when you got it? I ask as mine has a Mines ECU and I have been trying to find out if it will be ok with UK fuels, I think from what I have found out so far that if the timing is retarded 4 degrees it should be ok as the Mines ECU cannot be remapped without it going back to Japan.

Mine didnt need any re-mapping, but it was running everything as standard. I did think about going down the re-map route, and even about a PowerFC but it didnt need it (thankfully, as i cant afford another ?1000 just yet...)
Might be a bit more difficult with a Mines ecu, but i'm sure one the many specialists can help there! Where abouts are you based Mr Midnite?

I'm in West Yorks, I had a word with a tuner up here about the Mines ECU, from what I can gather it should be ok with 98/99 RON fuel as long as I check it is not Detting, gonna have it checked for fuelling when it gets here before I attempt to use it at high boost.

Another update, I picked my car up today from the docks. Its in pretty good nick and although I didn't get to drive it much I did have a quick 1st gear blast Twisted Evil when it was unloaded from the trailer at Msdunn's mates garage where it is being prepped for its MOT. A big thank you to Msdunn for his help with this. Just have to say that if the 1st gear blast was anything to go by, its one hell of a car. Very Happy

Hi Glanma, she loves her car and I quote "It's not the top speed, it's the acceleration". She's getting used to it and so is taking it easier now. Need to sort out some music for her but I think the cage that the CD would bolt into was removed in Japan so will need to source one. Hopefully I will sort one soon!!! Smile

Is it a single or double din - if its a double din I've got a feeling I might have one knocking about somewhere, let me know if it is and I'll see if I can dig it out.

Hi G, its a double din unit, let me know if you do have one and we'll sort something out. It would be nice to get her some audio in it as thats the only thing she doesn't like about the car.

Update: had the car dynoed today and its putting out 414 BHP atf. The really good thing is that it ran at high boost with no problems and no detonation. That was the thing I was most worried about, if it would be ok with UK fuel without any adjustment, The Racing Line did the testing and were happy with how it ran, so I am over the moon. Its now at home parked in the garage so just waiting now for the C&E form then its off to the DVLA Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Another big thanks to Msdunn for all his help with the car, thanks mate. We will sort out that run soon, pick a good one. Wink

Well I got the C&E form on Monday and as my son was going to the DVLA got my paperwork in, lo and behold on Tuesday the paperwork was ready. My plates are on the car and I have been for a run, all I can say is WOW !!!. The handling is superb, it is so responsive that you know where the car is at all times and the SPEED Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy . When you get it on boost the pickup is unbelieveable, it just seems to want to run and run, like a galloping horse, only much faster. I am still getting used to it but I am so glad I got this car. Mrs MidNite thought the car was breaking down when she heard all the noises it makes, but she now knows that turbo's and induction kit have sounds of there own and the car is not going to blow up Wink . Well at long last my quest is over but I feel now the journey is just beginning Smile .
