The vehicle price guides can be seen on our website
www.japaneseauctions.co.uk
From there goto Auction
On the right hand side next to the login box you can see a tab for "Vehicle price guide"
Click on that and you will get a list of vehicles to select from.
We are adding more vehicle price guide data daily as this is our new website. We have a few more databases of data to add to the list.
If you do not see the vehicle you want let us know or make a post on the forum stating the years of vehicles you are interested in.
I will then look up the price guides for you and list them on the forum.
Note: Japanese names for vehicles are different to english onces in some cases, if there is any confusion just let us know =) |

The old site allowed you to track vehicles as they went through the auction process. Now there is no way to see the selling prices so it is impossible to get a sense of what a reasonable bid should be. The price guide simply does not provide the information we need.
I was just getting ready to bid on a vehicle after tracking the prices for several weeks but now I am lost again.
In order to make intellegent bids, please bring this back! |

We are building a database at present for you to look up market price prices. It will be very detailed and you will be able to get good ideas on what to bid.
Our last site caused alot of complaints with motor dealers and the auction halls themselves and we were forced to close it.
The situation is was as follows:-
Some customers found out they were getting really badly ripped off by some auction services and auction agents as they would bump up the price of vehicles.
If you bid 400,000 yen and the vehicle sold at 200,000 yen, the agent would tell the customer vehicle was purchased for say 390,000 yen with the agent pocketing the extra amount.
Not everyone is as honest as we are!
Now imagine the situation when disgruntled agents started complaining to the auction halls (of which they were members) about our site cutting into their (Illegal) profits!
We hope to provide a service where you know how much you to bid still and we are more than happy to provide past auction details to you, just ask for it =)
Please bear with us, we are at the moment optimising the database so the site loads faster. More features are planned =) |

| How do we know we're not getting ripped off if we can't see the actual results. The old system was much better. |

Judy is on to something here,if we can't see the auction results, how do we know what the final bid price was.Something smells fishy.
Way to go girl! |

| I think they should post the auction results every day without the auction number, that way we still could view them without any of the ripoff companies giving autoadvan a hard time for exposing there slimy tactics. |

Hi,
I was recommend this site by a friend who said they show all results the following day. That's why I'm here.
The same thing is going on at Grahamberry2(another buyer company)
The auction results are totally out dated, basicly useless.Wish I had used this site back in the day, probably would've bought 2-3 vehicles buy now.
Hey Lawrence, those worms live under every car dealer. |

Lawrence thanks for mentioning it actually,
The problem started when a number of UK motor traders discovered our system and saw the auction end prices. They (at that time) had obviously placed bids with with agents and were tracking it on our system. Questions were asked to their agents why they had not won their vehicle when on our systems it said they were sold!
The really strange thing was, in a few cases vehicles reached for example 150,000 yen on our system and were listed as not sold at the end of auction yet the motoer dealers claim to have told us they bidded 200,000 yen. Now we showed our auction data direct from the the auction halls, there is no way there is any error on our system. This only leads me to believe one thing.... their agents didn't didn't actually place bids for them!! What they were playing at I don't have a clue.
Anyway returning to the topic of the discussion
We will have a system in place where you can find out how much the vehicle is worth in Japan. This is be a large database of past auction results updated on a regular basis. Customers can look up their vehicle, year and model then see what past auction results has been. The database will be current and reflect actual market price vaules in Japan.
Auction results without the auction numbers is a good idea. Still very easy to tell which one was your vehicle, just look at the mileage, but the point is only OUR customers will know that. It would be the only way for us to release such data and it would only be possible with some auction halls. We will definatly consider this and perhaps make it viewable only to customers that have lodged deposits with us.
Another option is to create another website unlinked to us with all the auction data on it.
Please bear with us while we figure out the best way to do this for our customers =)
If you do insist on using another agent other than us, then I would be happy to forward you the auction end result for your vehicle to you on request. I really don't think its fair for customers to be ripped off like that.
Sorry boycruiser due to the reasons listed above we can't show the results direct but we will think of a way to show them indirectly one way or the other so just our customers know =) |

Andyroo,
1996 Chevy Astros Cost around 425,000 YEN from auction in Japan.
A bid of 475,000 yen should secure most examples. |

Hi all
Big hello to forum users and all at Autoadvan. I was one of the lucky ones who found the original website last year and have been viewing auction prices on a regular basis; its been a great yardstick for knowing how much to bid. Shame a few unscrupulous agents have to go and spoil it for others (posting sale price)
I currently have a UK bought 2nd Gen Hilux Surf and am now looking for a 3rd Gen and reckon I can't go far wrong using this site to find a good example. Just a few questions to clear up before I commit:
1. I'm registered; how do I go about paying you the deposit and fee?
2. Can I both bid for myself or have you bid on my behalf?
3. What sort of mechanical check, if anything, do you manage to give the vehicle either pre or post auction?
4. Are Hilux Surf manual gearboxes as rare as they appear - seems to be about 1-2% of all up for auction
5. How soon after winning does auction house require balance, take it this is paid direct by international bank transfer?
6. Typically how long after winning bid can you expect to see the vehicle at UK port?
7. Can you assist with SVA..I know it will need one as 3rd Gens only came in in 1995. I live in Aberdeen and the nearest port is Newcastle, will the 'old bill' see kind if I drive it up here for SVA/MOT??
8. I have a budget of around 700,000 yen for the bid and extra ?400 for FOB and ?250 for your fees. By the time the Surf gets here I'll have sold the other to cover shipping, VAT, Duty, SVA, MOT, etc. This should get me a decent 1996 manual 3.0TD with sub 100k on the clock. Not too bothered about colour but a few toys (Airbags/navigation/ABS/bars) and definitely a sunroof would be a bonus.
Any advice welcome
Cheers

Hi,
1. I'm registered; how do I go about paying you the deposit and fee?
Just drop an email to sales@japaneseauctions.co.uk and our sales team will give you the detials
2. Can I both bid for myself or have you bid on my behalf?
We bid on your behalf, just let us know your max price
3. What sort of mechanical check, if anything, do you manage to give the vehicle either pre or post auction?
We have reps in some auction halls that will go inspect the vehicles. Please email our sales office for a list. We cover all the USS auctions.
4. Are Hilux Surf manual gearboxes as rare as they appear - seems to be about 1-2% of all up for auction
They are fairly rare vehicles, and very sought after for export into the UK market. Dealers love to import these.
5. How soon after winning does auction house require balance, take it this is paid direct by international bank transfer?
3 Working days. Yes paid direct.
6. Typically how long after winning bid can you expect to see the vehicle at UK port?
Depends on shipping times. Once on vessel it takes 4-5 weeks to reach the UK. Wait for vehicle can be from a few days to a few weeks. Usually vessels leaving from Japan every month.
7. Can you assist with SVA..I know it will need one as 3rd Gens only came in in 1995. I live in Aberdeen and the nearest port is Newcastle, will the 'old bill' see kind if I drive it up here for SVA/MOT??
You are allowed to drive to the SVA or MOT station as long as you have an appointment booked. It says so on the DVLA website.
Yes you should be within budget for a 1996 vehicle. Just let us know which one you are interested in and we will guide you from there. Our sales rep will usually call you to make sure you know all the details. |
