freddiefly,

what are you trying to up grade? once you have registered thats it Very Happy nothing more to up grade, as for costs you will find all you need on the site and Midnight has a nice calculater for working out all the costs, plus Advan are evey good with any info you might need just give tony or drop a PM to Tez and it is sometimes better to post things on the General site as I think more people watch that one, anyhow any thing else just give us a shout and the lads on here will try and help.

To be able to start bidding for your car/s you need to have made your initial deposit payment. Once that's done you can do as much bidding and have as many translations done as you like up to the value of your deposit. Once you have bid on and won a vehicle the whole process is actually pretty simple, it all sort of comes together nicely and Advan will advise you on how to do the balance payments etc and arrange shipping for you(assuming you want them to!)

I was sent by my company to buy a Bongo from the auctions in Southampton last year for a customer. I hadn't heard of Bongo's before that, but was actually quite impressed by them, even though the auction I had to go to didn't have any good quality ones (I think they sell the ones that were left over and nobody really wanted in Japan!!!) I thought the campers were great - love that electric elevating roof, there was loads of room in it!

And don't worry about being a first time importer - we all were at some point and there's plenty of guys on here that will help you out! Good luck! Very Happy

Hi Glanma thanks for the reply! Its nice to know there are people out there willing to give help and advice, I have spoken to Tony on hes mobile regarding Mazda Bongos! But I have only had automated reply?s from my E-mails no payment details were included in them, I have tried to contact advan sales 3 times via E-mail so far regarding deposit payment details, to date no reply? Including Tezs link on the above thread Am I doing something wrong?

Can you tell me dose it cost to bid, do you do this your self? Or do advan do this for you, how much do advan charge for there services for each sale, also what is the charge for each translation does it give a good description of the vehicle interior exterior and engine.

Thanks Freddieflys

Freddieflys,
Hi the Hammer here 5slick.gif you may not be getting a reply as of yet due to the weekend but I'm sure they will get in touch ASAP you know what its like even the guys at Advan need Partyman 2 man down anyway here is some steps explained for you, I thinks translations are ?5 and Bids ?10 Shocked

Auction Process

Step 1

It takes only a few minutes to register an account with Advangroup for free! Once this is completed, you are entitled to view all auction hall vehicles and graded auction sheets with no obligation to purchase and use our forum.

After logging into your account with your username and password, use the Search Menu to browse our auction database. (The vehicles on view are due to be auctioned in the next 24-48 hours).

Step 2

Before you can bid on a vehicle, we require you to upgrade to Gold membership, available here. This is fully refundable once any amount owed to us has been settled.

To bid, simply use the Bid buttons next to each vehicle. Once your bid has been received, Advangroup will send you an email indicating this.

Step 3

On the purchase of Gold membership you are in a position to select vehicles. Bidding and translation services can be requested until 11:00pm (GMT) [use buttons Bid and Transtlate], with auctions available for viewing 1-2 days in advance.

Translation service
On your account you will be given the option to translate the auction sheets by clicking the Translation button next to a relevant vehicle. There is a 5.00GBP charge per translation, which will be deductem from your account during checkout process.

Bidding
From your account you will see the option to place a Bid. The cost is 10GBP per bid. Bids will be confirmed to you by email. Please note: once bids are entered it is difficult to withdraw, so please bid carefully!

Successful Bid
If your bid is successful we will notify you by email as soon as we receive official confirmation from the auction hall (usually on the next working day). You are then required to pay us our sourcing fee and any translation and bidding fees due to us. The deposit paid to us can form part of this sum.
You will then be required to transfer the balance for the vehicle and FOB costs to our Japanese Auction Partners by Bank International Telegraphic Transfer. This is to be made within 48 hours after we confirm to you a vehicle has been purchased. A copy of the bank evidence must also be faxed to us within 72 hours of successful purchase.
Once all payment is confirmed your vehicle is delivered to the port ready for shipment. We will put you in touch with respected shipping agents who will discuss with you arrangements for shipment of your vehicle to your required port. You are free to any shipping agent you wish.

Unsuccessful Bid
In the event of an unsuccessful bid, we will notify you by email. You are free to continue to bid for vehicles or request refund of your deposit once any fees owed to us have been settled.

Step 4

By now your vehicle will be on its way to your required port. Please contact the shipping agent if you require updated shipping times
We will handle all the paperwork for you and it will be prepared in good time for the arrival of your vehicle.
From here we are able to offer you transport services for getting your vehicle from the port to your house, SVA testing services, Modification and Registration services if required. Come to us for the best trade prices on these – our established links with respected trade contacts will provide you with some of the most competitive rates around.
If you have any further questions please visit our FAQ forum or contact us personally via email.

and as Glanma says most of us on here are first timers so nike.gif

Hi again!

I see Hammer has found exactly what you need to see - he's such a sweetie!!! Wink All I will add to the above is that the best way to go about things is to watch the auctions for a bit to get a feel for them before you go asking for translations willy-nilly. Then having paid your deposit (or Gold membership as it seems to be now!) you can get the translations, but only ask for them if you are really keen on buying a particular car as each one will cost you a fiver, as mentioned above. I waited until I'd seen the right car, then got a translation which confirmed that the car was what I was after and hence asked the guys to bid for me. Luckily I won it at the first attempt, which meant that not much had come off my deposit payment (only ?15 to be exact!) So the remainder was used to pay Advan's fee and the bit left over was returned to me.

What age of car are you looking for, btw?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for getting back to me, you have just about covered it there Hammer I think cheers! By the way where do I get them beer drinking smileys!

I found the autoadvan.co.uk web site today it?s got all the info on there! Very Happy I also spoke to Tony as well he told me to use sale@autoadvan.co.uk E-mail and not sales@japaneseauctions.co.uk I think that was my problem have not tried it yet though! Will let you know the outcome when I do.

What translation sheet should I go for there?s quite a few to choose from or do you get all of them for ?5.00p? also am I right in saying that it costs ?10.00p for autoadvan to bid for me up to a maximum bid that I set, I dont do the bidding myself?

Not to sure on the age of the Mazda Bongo Friendee that I am going to go for as yet, I know that if it under 10ys old it will need a sva test what dose that involve? As any one imported one of these?

Cheers Freddieflys!

Just e-mail sales with the details of the car your interested in asking for a translation and they will e-mail it back to you. And yes, you don't bid personally, u just sit back and let Advan do the bidding for you up to your max.
As for the SVA, a Bongo should just need a foglight, fuel filler neck restrictor and the speedo face converting to read in MPH. If its a 97 or younger it gets more involved & more expensive as it will then need an ESVA.

Ah yes I remember the American van we imported. I was amazed at how nice it was.

Do you have pics? Across the top there is a garage button, vehicles and pics can be uploaded there =)

I think many people don't know you can get these vehicles from Japan.
