Yep - you can drive it there! As long as you've arranged insurance and you can show that it has just been picked up and is going straight to an SVA centre you should have no problems. To be honest I think it's bit of a grey area with the police, but I had a knock on my door a few days ago (mine is waiting for a test date and was parked on the road without number plates!) but when I told them the score they were quite happy. They just wanted to check that it wasn't stolen!
I would say though to be absolutely sure you'll have no problems a transporter is still the best way to go.

Cheers Glenn

if you have something strong with a towbar - hire a trailer for the day.
?30/35 covers the cost of the fuel you would use and maybe giving a mate ?10/20 to run you there.

also i have arrived at the docks to find a dead battery and no fuel Crying or Very sad
it gets very cold in the hold, or so i'm told Laughing

but apart from this - where are you collecting it - and where is the sva centre?
most main ports that the jap boats dock at have the sva centre on the dockside and will run your car to their units for you.

if it is due into liverpool - the sva centre is in the same building as the shipping company and the auctioneers.

if you make arrangements with them - they will take it straight into their unit and perform the jobs you need - and then you collect it when the jobs done.
unless you plan to do the work yourself - in that case you will need to transport it to your workplace - then get it back to liverpool (or whichever) sva centre.

what is it and what year is it?

hammer - i'd keep your head down if i were you - at least until its down to a nice gentle breeze Shocked

theres a sva centre here; Sandy Lane, Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-tyne, NE3 5HB - about ten miles from the docks.

Telephone: 0191 2365011

i'd get in touch with them if i were you, you maybe able to do some of the work yourself and save some cash - either way they will advise you of the proceedure.
