|
|
Hi,
Having seen several imported Toyota/similar hi-tops and full coachbuilt campers, I can get no information nor ever find any in a search. Do camper vans/motorhomes go through auction? Anyone got any info on them?
The cheaper price/auto box/air con etc appeal to me.
Greg. |

Hi Greg - yes you can find campers through the auctions, I recently bought a Mazda Bongo for my company (they had been asked to source one for a customer) which was an 8 seater auto with a/c and electric elevating roof. Not sure though how much info you can get on them other than what might be on the auction sheet. That said, I do know that there's a Bongo owners club in the Uk, so I guess there might be others too. They are always a good source of info.
Hope that helps a little!

you are better off getting a ten year old vehicle - it is so much simpler -
newer ones will impact on the price with sva costs and model reports.
the ten year olds are the condition of a 3/4 year old uk car anyway.
then its just speedo and fog light.
unless you need a pop up roof - i really like delicas for people carriers.
all pajero running gear, 8 seats - or the 7 seater has 4 captain seats, and the second row swivel to face the rear bench.
they also look tough and individual.

| Well I had to buy a bongo for my old company recently, I got it at the auctions at Southampton virtually straight off the ship. If I remember it was a June 96 model so needed to be SVA'd, 2.5 diesel auto with elevating roof (electric), 8 seater with a/c and all the other toys. Had bit of a saga when the top engine hose burst before I'd left Southampton, but once that was sorted it was quite a nice vehicle. I think after the SVA and one or two other bits were done it ended up costing around ?3500 on the road. Not sure how good or bad a price that is really but when we were looking to sell it shortly afterwards and saw what was available through Autotrader and the like, we found that the prices varied wildly! After I left the company I think they were still undecided about selling it or keeping it as a company vehicle - so it may be available for sale if you'd like me to enquire? |
