EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval Certificates.
Does anyone know anything about these...?
Are there chassis number related or model related...?
Any ideas where I could get hold of one from...? |

usually it is a marking on your japanese import tyres...
A really silly thing actually because to pass the Japanese MOT you need tyres which are a higher spec than the EU requirements.
If the vehicle was driven in Japan legally then....
You can have perfectly good tyres but without the mark you won't pass the SVA.
Good thing is we can show you where to get a set of 18 inch part worn tyres with at least 7000 miles of life left in them for 100 pounds - less if you are after smaller sizes.
I guess they ask for this mark in case you import a car from a country out side the EU with lower tyre requirements than the EU. |

No. I was actually looking at these two statement from the DVLA website...
"For most new vehicles you must present evidence of Type Approval from the supplier or vehicle manufacturer, usually in the form of a Certificate of Conformity. If the vehicle has not been subject to Type Approval it must pass a Single Approval (SVA) Test."
"Non-type approved vehicles less than 10 years old that are personally imported are required to pass a Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) test."
The implication seems to be a EU type approved vehicle dosn't need a SVA... |

Ah that simply means you need new tyres for the SVA test if it doesn't have the special EU approved mark on your tyres.
75 % of tyres in Japan do have this mark.
You still have to take the SVA test if it has them unfortunatly. |
