Hi all,
I'm new around here, but i've been researching for a while and i'm BADLY tempted to get myself a nice little weekend sporty something.

Anyway, how much is it going to cost me (roughly speaking) to get an old MR2 over here and on the road?

I've had a look at the guy's who had a problem with his shocks on another thread, he payed ?4500 for that which I thought was quite steep.

If I asked the guys to find me one for maybe ?2000, do you reckon that would be possible, over here and on the road?

None of the mods are required, mainly due to insurance and the fact i'll probably kill myself in it anyway! The only requirement i've got is that it's reasonably low in mileage.

Am I being unrealistic in trying to get one for that price in quite good nick? I mean, I could get one over here for about ?2500, so i'm just trying to weigh up the options

Given that the 10+ year models on require a simple MOT. Due to their age there could be a fair amount of worn parts. Either get a low grade example for very cheap and pay heaps to fix it. Or get a very good example and pay little or nothing to fix it for MOT pass.

Safest bet is to just buy locally, there are a lot of unknowns when judging a vehicle off an auction sheet. Don't forget to factor in the cost of getting a security system. All the best!
