Hi again.

My car is registered on 01.01.96 so im waiting till then to register it through the MOT route.

Can I have the MOT done before this time?

Or does it have to be done after that date?

It would save a bit of time if i could MOT the car the week before.

Any help appreciated, again!

Cheers

Scott

Scott - you'll need to present the MOT when you go to register it with DVLA, so yes, you should get it done anytime before that! :D

Hi Hammer good to hear from you again! Yeah I'll look forward to seeing your pics - whichever computer they come from!!!! :D :D

The Estima is on the road and bringing in the smiles now - had a full week to evaluate it properly and I'm as pleased with it now as I was when it first arrived! Having to be a bit careful with some of the dips in the road and such like but it's worth it! I put the sport exhaust back on as soon as I had the ESVA pass certificate, along with the blue tint bulbs it came with. Also got the rear view camera that I had installed up and running (it was in place before the test but I didn't wire it up in case they checked that too!) and I should be sorting out some of the minor chips and cracks in the fibreglass this weekend if the weather holds up. I'll do a proper update when I get a few minutes, so watch this space.

Had a quick look at the auction pages a couple of days ago - I'd like to bring another Estima over here again now that I know the pitfalls. Saw a real nice one similar to mine but with 19" wheels already on it and a slightly better looking kit, but it was a year older and had done a few more miles. Looked a good price though - shame I don't have the money for two projects at once!!!! Sad

It only really becomes a big deal when you have to contend with a model report, which you shouldn't need to do. Then your car has to be presented in an almost identical state as the one which they produced the model report from. And as they don't give you any info whatsoever about that original car, the likes of me have no idea what we have to do to make our rides the same!!!! Stupid system really, and as I've said, most of the stuff that got changed for the test has now been changed back!

Your Legnum looks the biz - you must be well pleased! Had a few bits done to it as well I see - guess it'll be good to see it in the flesh, I imagine you'll be home to welcome it too? Glad you got the pics sussed now though!!! :D :D

Don't envy you regards the weather either, and I bet it's more than -15 with the wind blowing like that too!

Cheers Glenn

Thanks for that lads, yes I am well pleased with it, but their was one thing I was not sure of and that was I was told it was a auto-trip tronic but if you look at the 5th photo it looks like a manual, which would be even better Laughing as they only made 1 manual every 100 they make, the thing is it has a gatter on the gear lever which auto's dont normally have and it makes it hard to see what it is Question Axeboy do you know how much work is needed for the SVA and how much Question also when do you have to pay the import dutie and VAT Evil or Very Mad I have a address for a place that do the SVA's which is very near Newcastle docks so I was thinking of getting them to pick it up and taking it to the test centre(once I know how much it will be or at least a ball park figure to work from Confused I went for the Legnum cos like Glamma I need the space for the kids and me golf clubs but did not want to be with out some performance, so I think the Legnum fits the bill any how any help on anything would be great.

Cheers Hammer

Axeboy yes I did sign up for the VR4club where you in it Question any good Confused

In terms of SVA for the VR4 its the same as the rest.

Fuel neck restrictor, speedo converter etc etc.

The car in the pics is a manual. If its a 96 manual its more powerful that the auto too.

Im still a member of clubvr4, the best bet would be to ask in the forums about the SVA. Things like the exhaust may be an issue, but nothing to worry about m8.

ClubVR4 is the best owners club ive come across. I might not have a vr4 anymore, but worth staying a member.

Thanks Axeboy,

The exhaust was one of the things I was thinking of Confused if it had a cat on or not as I was thinking to put a cat on would be costly Crying or Very sad the other things I dont think are too costly ,speedo converters are about 40/50 pounds as far as I know Question but what about the petrol thing Confused japan uses 100octane dont they as appossed to our 95 wont this afect the engine Confused do you have to add additive our have the ECU remapped Shocked. as for the VR4club I did have a few posts a while back and I'll be going back to post me pic's for them to see and to ask about where I can get some bits and bobs from for the car Like body kit and if poss interior ,dont like the look of mine would like some leather white/black and would I be wright in saying that some evo bits and bobs would fit it Question any how may be I'll here you on the VR4 web :) one thing its real easy to post pic's on that site.

It will most liekly still have the cat, the japanese are quite stict with those.

The fuel neck restrictor is about ?10 and just stops you putting diesel or leaded into the car.

The VR4 needs super unleaded, but really optimax is best. It'll use normal unleaded but will kick into safe mode which reduces the boost to about 0.3/0.4bar then you have to reset the ECU to return to 0.7bar standard.

No real need for a remap.

Dont worry about SVA, my old galant passed through with a Blitz exhaust. Would be worth a try.

As for parts, some EVO bits fit. Recaro interior can be found for the car but usually costs a small fortune.

Hammer - I've got a fuel neck restrictor laying around if you want it, bought it before mine arrived then found it didn't need one! There are diffferent types but I'll send it up to you to try if you like, it's no good to me now! And I paid the extra few quid for the speedo chip rather than a speedo face conversion, and if you want to use all the power to hand that's the way to go (and it's not a hard job if you can solder!).
And as for bodykits - here's a link you might want to try;
http://www5.cds.ne.jp/~yoshioka/aeroparts.htm
Loads of Jap suppliers there, but I reckon a good few of them must have agents in the UK too. Don't know if Legnums are listed but might have a look out of interest myself now!

Axeboy, or is it Guest Wink thanks for the info mate I was not sure about the petrol thing I had heard the the ron95 we use did not go down well with jap cars and optimax may damage your engine after a while Question but you recon super unleaded is fine, mined you I know that optimax will add a few hp when you use it, but is it ok to use all the time Question

Glamma,
thats nice of you mate I'll drop you a pm on that one, you will have to bear with me as far as the chip goes I dont like messing with anything like that Confused on cars but if you think its the best way to go then I may get some one to do it, I'll take a look at the link tonight if I get the chance, but at the moment I'm trying to sort me son with a PSP but its not to easy while I'm out here but he is ok with it for next year if I dont manage it, as a way of saying sorry for not getting him it in time I have got him a small radio control car that you can change everything on (rear wings, front and rear bumpers, engines, you can even make it 4x4 and add under body lights) its just like customising your own car but a bit cheaper, I got him a skyline (yellow) I'll post it when I get home it looks the biz in fact I may get one me self and race him. any way mate I try and get back to you tonight on PM about the restrictor.

...or even better if you can find a Tesco garage they are now offering 99RON the highest in the UK market. Almost the same as the 100-102 they use in the east.
I am still not satisfied and may fork out myself to setup the ecu for optimum running on optimax as its most readily available! :)
