Hi, I am finally getting to grips with whats involved in importing, however if anybody could help clear up a couple of points it would be appreciated.
I understand that a deposit of ?500 has to be given to Advan to act as a deposit on a winning bid, and to also fund the aution translation and bid. What isnt clear however, is how much Advan require for their services. There is reference to an AUCTION SERVICE fee of ?300,and an AGENT FEE of ?400!!
As I understant it, The Aution service fee is payment to Advan for a successful winning bid!! whats the Agent fee, and is this in addition to the other costs?
If anybody can shed any light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

The ?500 is almost like the kitty. You pay up front and can then start requesting auction reports (?5 each) and bid requests (?10) (is that right?!)
Then the ?400 is due as an agent fee once a car is won. So if you have requested reports and bids totalling less than ?100 you wont have to pay any more. I requested quite a few reports and bids so had to 'top up' the ?500 with some more to pay off the ?400 fee at the end... |

Thats great.
Did you find the auction reports to be an accurate representation of the car, and did they tell you everything you needed to make a good call?
One thing I noticed, is that considering the fact that a particular car may have a grading of, say 4, there seemed to be quite a few ticks & crosses on the report!! more so in fact than other cars with a lower grading mark. It makes me wonder just how far you could trust these reports.
Anybody found there to be any serious discrepancies?
Cheers. Paul. |
