The only reason i can find for getting a fuel filler neck restrictor fitted would be to 'safeguard against using leaded fuel in vehicles fitted with a catalytic converter'.
Seeing as the car i'm waiting for wasnt produced with a cat, and will not need one here anyway (pre '92) and the fact we dont have leaded at the pumps anymore... is this still a legal issue which needs addressing?!
Thanks. |

Hi Masong
I always assumed it was to restrict fuel spillage and escaping flammable vapours, the fuel neck restrictor being the same size as our filler nozzles. I could be way off though!!!! |

| Good point glanma! i've read on forums of people putting in BP super diesel in newer gtr's (pumps are rather similar to super unleaded apparently!) and having some smoking problems... a bit worried if they still managed to get their cars through the SVA though! |

| Dead right - don't think I'd want to stick diesel in a petrol tank! Can't say I've noticed but maybe the filler nozzles are different sizes and hence the need for filler neck restrictors? I'll just pop down to my local garage and check it out - how sad!!!!!!!!!!!! :D |
