hey scott imported a figaro last year and it was really easy, suggest you get a cheap car over 10 years old for your first, go the costs add up. Work out the FOB plus all the agents stuff then add on bank costs for two money transfers.

They really hit you for tax 10% import duty on ALL above costs and then 17.5% on all cost plus the import duty!!! A fair bit of paperwork but pretty straight forward.

I picked up the car from the docks myself as I live near by and they also charged to take the car off the RoRo ship. If the car is booked in for an MOT you can drive from the docks to the garage.(if the car is over ten years old). The handlers will even jump start it for you if the battery is flat.

Im going to import again but 10% + 17.5% ontop means that the cheaper the car the less the amount of tax. I think your spot on with the RX7 like the Figaro they have a cult following and you wont get stuck with a 4x4/camper bongo thingy that you cant flog.
