Slightly different post in that im actually going to be living in Japan, can speak japanese and have lots of japanese friends who can help me out on purchasing a car. However I'm wondering what car to buy..can you help.
Basically ill be moving back out there and last time i accumulted so much stuff that when i returned to the uk i just had to leave a lot back (i.e. give it all away) and i realised i could have bought a motor there, kept it for a year then exported it to england with all my gear in the boot. Then i wouldnt have to pay tax because ive owned it for one year and i could even sell it off to make some profit.
So i want to do it this time. Im looking for a car that will get me a ROI. I'm not so fussed about the looks (as long as it isnt a hello kitty taxi) just the realistic aftersale price.
Whats a good buy these days for that purpose. Ive seen hundreds of skylines for sale and not being bought. Eunos roadsters too. What about the family wagon things? Cubes??
budget upto 6000grand to get the car back here.
If no one can think of one do you know of a good website that shows the successful japanese cars for each year. I'd like to look at great cars of 97 as they will soon not require the SVA test (i.e. stay one step ahead).
Also any good sites that can help me put a resale value on an import once in uk? |

Watching with interest.
I doubt you could bring much back in the boot of a Eunos Roadster. Speaking of which, I have a MK1 Eunos and am a bit of a geek when it comes to these cars - I love them. Find one with lots of juicy JDM parts on and they will be worth a fortune back in the UK. |

I am pritty sure it is illegal to use a car as a form of a shipping container so you may want to do more research before going ahead with it!
Furthermore, don't expect all the items to still be in the car when it arrives here. |

Most shipping lines refuse to have personal stuff shipped with/in the car. The people to ask would be the liners. Here some at http://japan-used-car-exporting.info/import/shipping-companies.html
BTW Hello Kitty kits are all up in Japan... even with the men. Can't find the link I saw some time ago with a Hello Kitty car meet. :)
