lol, doubt he was trying to be honest. As much as i love the FTO (never driven one though), an Impreza Turbo should eat it up and spit it out with a decent driver. That said, the UK Imprezas aren't really upto much (was my last car until it met a sorry end Sad) compared to the Jap Imports.

Hi Guys,

Yes I've had my nap, had a really strange dream though. In it I was was driving a really fast Japanese Import around a million miles an hour and was passing everyone like they weren't moving. Then I woke up and had drool hanging down the side of my mouth. A Homer Simpson experience methinks Laughing

Um - what are 'corduroy trousers' and 'knitted cardigans'? Very Happy Very Happy Are my slacks and olive green pullover with the leather elbow patches not de rigeur anymore? Shocked
And MidNite - you may have been right about me being wise to the tune of 387 years - I bought a car that I can flop into and fall out of, there's no climbing involved!!! Wink

Well Glanma,
I didn't want to say anything but I did notice how easy your car is to get in and out of. Maybe I was a bit harsh at 387 years, I really don't think you look a day over 350 Laughing . But really Glanma, I think you should ditch the pullover, Cardies are much cooler with our generation Laughing .

BTW thanks for all your help with the calculator, everyone seems to like it and most are finding it really easy to use, I guess when you know all the costs involved it makes it easier to work out what you can afford to spend.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a midlife crisis.

I am a firm believer in the Peter Pan theory though.....forever young (psychologically anyway), I think I'll always be a 20yr old stuck in an ever ageing body.......and I believe in the holy grail called "Cheap Insurance"!One day it will be mine too.

And I'm quite short so car height isn't a problem, it's the seeing over the steering wheel and reaching the pedals THAT'S the problem Laughing Wink

As for pullovers and cardies, what about a good old tanktop?! A nice combination of the two Wink

I know just what you mean Yann! As for the holy grail of cheap insurance, I'm afraid I'm a non-believer, as I don't ever remember my premiums coming down regardless of what car I drove at the time!
Just had a thought for a get together - we all turn up with our performance/modified cars with the added extra of all having to wear a tank top/leather elbowed pullover/cardigan!!! Super or what?!!!!

that'll be an mx5 then, full leather in british racing green

A recent television program looked at "the ten best sports cars in history" and to the surprise of many viewers, the relatively humble Mazda Miata garnered second place - just behind the venerable Porsche 911

When first introduced back in 1989, the Miata drew rave reviews from automotive journalists and was often described as "a 60s British sports car that works properly and doesn't leak."

Romeo, I'm still scratching my head on how you managed to win with such a ridiculously low bid for a 2000 FTO. Glitch in the matrix?

Think you might have read that wrong - it was a 2000cc I believe, not a year 2000 produced car, hence the price.

I stand corrected. Thank you glanma. Yes I was overly informed. 1995 car going by first post. I thought he had scored the auction steal of the century.

LOL Very Happy Think we would all have been looking for a deal like that if that had been the case! He's pretty sharp but even Romeo himself wouldn't have pulled that one off!!!!

Yeah still going strong and like your FTO, it's given me no problems whatsoever and lots of highly enjoyable miles! New set of wheels are on their way at last along with a few other bits and pieces. I keep tinkering with the damn thing - by now my list of jobs-I-want-to-do should be getting shorter, but the opposite is happening (mainly 'cos I keep finding stuff that I didn't realise existed for it on the Yahoo JP auctions!).

Have been thinking about another toy - the missus gets the lions share of time in the Estima so I could do with something a bit more exciting than our Fiesta to keep driving to work in! Been thinking about a Supra or maybe a hot Silvia, but not really delved into it too much yet.

Not sure what you're implying re. the New Forest, but it sounds slightly pervy!!!!! One weekend a year with the family and our tent is about as regular as it gets!

Hope you read some of MidNites' posts on his wifes FTO - similar in some ways to some of yours, but good to hear its nearly there now.

And as for your bar - that sounds like my sort of place!!! Reserve me a seat would you?!!! Laughing
