** REGISTRATION UPDATE **
I have just been down to our local DVLA office with the paperwork required, and my Plastic D/L.
Paid for 6 months road tax, and the reg fee (?131.50), and I shall be able to collect the Registration Mark on this Thursday after 3.30pm.
The DVLA will post the registration to you, but obviously it takes longer, and could arrive anything upto Monday next week so they told me. Hence my choice to collect the registration then I can be out and about this weekend ! - Finally :D :D
Cheers
Hi Ben
I forgot to mention if you need to any one to try it our for a period of time to test it let me know.
Thanks.
Hi Iqbal,
Sorry dude just seen your msg, and thanks for the offer, but I have just found a serious floor in the system.
You may of noticed that I did say to Masong that it can be activated from a text message. Unfortunatly this currently applies to ANY text recieved on the Sim Card.
The FTO recieved Two text's yesterday One was a Sim update, and another was a JUNK text (dont you just hate em). One of these text message (not sure which one yet) has disabled the cars power supply.
I am going to have to get out the laptop, and plug it into the PRDS unit to see what or which one disabled the car. I did place a serial port for pc connection (just incase a customer needs to change their signaling phone number).
I have been in talks with 4 major uk auto outlets to supply the phone number re-coding system but alas none seem interested (this is because I have set the cost of a re-programme (?9.99), and they say its "Not Viable to offer the serivce at that cost", and most of the companies were looking to charge ?30.00 minimum (NO WAY).
This leaves me with Two options :-
i. Offer re-coding *** over the internet (not always secure), and sometimes un-reliable.
ii. Re-code the unit via an encrypted text message, with a unique originators ID code (only known to myself).
Anyway I am jumping the gun slightly, as I need to sort out the text message problem First. Although I have already written the *** code for remote re-code via txt, it just needs a few tweeks here and there.
I am told that we shall be looing for people to trial the system early part of next year. I shall of course contact you then via Skype to discuss these arrangements if your still interested.
Cheers

Hi matey!
Like the sound of your gizmo (shame you've found a glitch but hey - it's a teething problem I'm sure!) - one question springs to mind (and it's probably a silly one but you're talking to the uninitiated here!) - if you can remotely cut all power to the car, what would happen if it were going full tilt down a motorway at the time? Don't think I'd want to be behind it if that happened?!!
I'll volunteer to help out too if you need more guinea pigs - I should be on the road by then!!!!!
Good luck with it though B,
Cheers Glenn |

Hi Glenn mate !,
Thats a good point, and One I have thought about to some detail.
If you cut power to the car in this type of situation I am hoping that the Police will be behind the vehicle slowing the traffic down, and then informing the owner to cut the cars power and minimising danger to civilians.
Any car will just slow down naturally through gravity, and the driver will have little steering ability. Hopefully he will end up just slowing down in the straight line ??.
Although saying that once people find out about the PRDS they might think twice b4 nicking a car that can be remotley disabled. I am guessing that there is no point in nicking a car that might just get round the corner or up the road b4 becoming a turkey.
You never know it may never be approved for legal use on the roads. I still have a way to go, and the factory built model has to go through all sorts of test, and checks before it gets approval for UK sale.
Thanks for the offer of assistance, I shall add you too, oh and the units are insured just incase they do go wrong during the test period!. The max you can claim (GOD FORBID) for theft, as a result of the PRDS malfunction (Only covered if in the coverage map of the cell net sim card opperator - cant say who at the moment, but they cover 98%) is ?20,000 a vehicle, and 1 Million for injury as a result of a PRDS malfunction. You also get ?5,000 hotel and travel expenses if you get stranded as a result of any malfunction. Sorry just reading the policy myself, umm and done even ask about the premium, I thought the FTO's was bad, but its not a patch on this One.
I wait too see, but am now happy I have sorted out the txt problem, gosh all night on the laptop
Cheers

Hi Ben
Im glad to see you have sorted the situation out with the text message, so what was the problem?
Regarding the re-programming i have got a few thoughts, how about offering this service yourself on a call out basis?
Or set up a training facility (can help you out with this if you want) and train the installers to carry out this service.
What do you think?
I hope this helps. |

Thats the worrying part - 'finding the perfect car' - I take it the descriptions in the auction reports are generally good.
The only bit im worried about is that there seems to be lots of grade A, or R r32 gtr's on the auction lists... hmmmm

Hey All,
Just a quick note to say the FTO came with NO speed limitations :D
I had not been brave enough to try opening her up until today, and TRUST me NO speed restrictions
Anyone know when the speed limitations came into force (was it in the last 10 years or before) ?.
I am just curious, but I can safely say that my car has no such limits, and managed to wipe the ar*e of a Subaru earlier
Cheers

Good to hear you are enjoying the open road!
you mentioned the dial kits available for c?15 before, do you know where i can get hold of some?
Changing the kmh to a mph sender unit can upset & confuse the HICAS in nissans, so i would like to avoid that if poss! Thanks |
